I have had a dramatic fashion flip — several times, actually.
My junior year of high school, I never wore the same outfit twice. Nor did I wear jeans. Not even once.
I’m at the opposite extreme in Portugal. Well, nearly.
It’s not 15 pounds, but I’ve gained weight in Portugal — at least 5.
I can see it in my chin, a bit in my belly, a pinch at my hips.
Perhaps the best way to experience it is to be immersed in music.
This thought came to me as I sat in the lobby of Portugal’s national library, a mile from my house, listening to the combined harmonies of a Swedish choir.

When it came out in 1997, I really liked the movie “As Good as It Gets.”
The story was good, the acting solid. Predictable and not terribly realistic, but it’s a movie — not real life.
