I rode my bike for the first time this year. It was only 5.75 miles. Half an hour. If I die in Tennessee, it will be because of the hills.
I decided to bike from home, which means I’ve got hills no matter which way I go. I tried a scenic road nearby, that, while narrow, is also pretty sunny, and the hills aren’t too steep.
Occasionally, I’ll share songs with friends. Sometimes people will ask on social media what others are listening to or seek suggestions for new music.
This intrigues me, because it’s easy to fall into habits of listening only to certain music. I really like it when I find someone new, especially if it’s outside of one of my traditional genres.
Do not move on to 2019 without letting go of something significant from 2018, an old idea, label, habit, fear, concern of ego. Let go to free up the whitespace for something new and extraordinary to enter.
I’m not sure if that’s the exact quote. A Google search reveals variations going back several years, attributed to motivational leader and best-selling author Bendon Burchard.
It showed up on Instagram. A new follower had posted it, and it struck me as sound advice.

At the end of our lives, what will we have?
Stuff? Houses? Careers? Stocks? Money?
For billions of people in the world, that’s not even an option. They will reach the end of their lives in poverty, without assets that we in the western world consider riches.
No, when it comes to the end, we will be left with our memories – if we are able to retain them – and our relationships.
